Winter Table in Living Room

I was out pretty early on Saturday with a dental appointment and a real estate showing afterward. On my way home I passed a nice house with "free" stuff in the yard. One was a wonderful metal table base with great patina and definition and I grabbed it. There was a glass top too but I couldn't lift it. I thought I had an old storm shutter in original blue paint in the garage and it turned out to be the perfect size.

As you can see the top turned out to be perfect! It really looks made to measure.

It's nice for my potted plants and various pretties i already had. You really can't see the table base in these photos,

Here is a repeat of the first photo with less contrast so you can see the table base better. I had a tea table in that spot before but like the lower table so much better. The nesting has begun.

Love when there is free stuff. And great that the glass was too heavy--this is a MUCH better top.
I just want to say --you are an every day treat to read each morning. Thank you!!!

It's perfect! What a great find and then to have the topper at home. It was meant to be. I'm with you on the 'nesting has begun' front.

Joanne S :: I want to be clear. I never intended to use the glass top. It would have ended up in my garage with other glass tops. I just wanted to be polite to the people who left it on their lawn. I usually don't admit defeat easily, but honestly that glass top weighed a ton and I didn't want to hurt myself. I waited around for another car to pass the site so I could wave it down for help but nobody came down the little lane I use as a shortcut. I feel sorry for the people who still own it and hope the trash men will take it on Tuesday.
xo, Rosemary

Rosemary, What a great find! I am always amazed at what people will put out for trash or free. I recently found a beautiful pair of armchairs with a wood frame and fabric that will be recovered soon. Love your table!

Rosemary, you surely do have the "eye" for found treasure and the vision which goes along with this to know it's "right" for a particular use or place. I do love your new table and without the aid of earlier photos couldn't recall what previously was in it's place . . . it's just so very perfect. Nice going.

I'd never find anything like that driving around the roads here in Utah....never!! Once again you scored a great find! I LOVE IT and to think you had the perfect blue shutter with paint patina perfection just hanging around in your garage. I'm a wee bit envious as I've been looking for a coffee table with metal legs just like the one you found for free. I found one I really liked but it's just a bit to large so I'll keep looking. I must say it looks FAB, like it was always meant to grace your charming and inviting living room and that makes me happy.
